The World Health Day is observed every year on April 7th. The idea of celebrating the world health day was conceptualised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the year 1948. On this particular day, there is much emphasis on the importance of leading a healthy life. One of the main factors for healthy living is to keep not just your physical but also your mental health in good shape.
With all of us confined to our homes, it can be difficult to find time and energy to exercise on a regular basis.
Here are some tips to stay healthy while you're stuck at home.
- Exercise with loved ones- Exercising with your loved ones is one of the best ways to connect with your spouse or your family during these difficult times. Consider going for bike rides, walking, practicing yoga or playing games in your backyard.
- Do chores at home that burn calories- Doing household chores like cleaning the house, lawn mowing, washing your car are great workouts to burn calories. Along with a sense of accomplishment, indulging in household tasks is a great way to keep your body active.
- Practice mindful mealtime- Before and after eating, take some time and be thankful for the food that’s on your plate. When you start eating, slow down and learn to savour every bite. Makesure to intake foods rich in all the essential nutrients and minerals. A healthy diet includes : Fresh Vegetables, fruits, nuts and beans, fish, yogurt, poultry etc.
- Sleep well- Your body needs an average of 6-7 hours of sleep every night. Try taking a hot shower or sip a cup of herbal tea to get yourself into a peaceful state of mind before hitting the bed.
