Top three yoga asanas for weight loss

Have you ever wondered if yoga helps one to lose weight? Three effective Yoga asanas for weight loss:

Vasisthasana (Side Plank)- This is a popular posture for weight loss in yoga. The side plank or vasisthasana is good for weight loss, improves balance and concentration, increases flexibility in the wrist, and tones your abdominal muscles.

Note: This asana must be performed on an empty stomach. Have your meal atleast four hours before practicing any asanas. Practice this asana regularly to see significant results.
Procedure: Start with a plank pose. Then change your weight on the right side from your arm to foot. Swing your left foot and arm on the right foot as your left arm rests on your hip. Place your right hand slightly ahead of the shoulder, and not below it. Remember to press your palm against the floor and place the arm in an upright position. Take a deep breath and raise your left arm such that it is perpendicular to the floor. Point your fingers towards the ceiling. Hold the position for a few seconds, then turn your concentration to your raised arm and look at your fingertips. Exhale and lower your arm such that it rests on your hip. Finally come back to the plank pose. Repeat this posture on your left side.  

Naukasana (Boat pose)- This is another effective posture for weight loss. Some of its benefits are: strengthens the abdominal muscles, aids in proper functioning of liver, reduces stress, enhances blood circulation and balances the hormonal system. Practice this asana regularly to see significant results.

Procedure: Start this asana by lying down on your back. Keep your feet together and arms beside your legs. While taking a deep breath raise your body to 30 degrees. Make sure you are able to see your toes with eyes.  Place your arms on your tights. Maintain the pose for a few seconds and then bring your body down.

Virabhadrasana (Warrior II pose)- The third effective yoga posture for weight loss is Virabhadrasana or Warrior II pose. This asana improves circulation, boosts your energy levels, good for your respiratory system and develops concentration. Practice this asana regularly to see significant results.

Procedure: The first step is to stand straight with your legs about three feet apart. Then, turn your right foot pointing in the outward direction. Make sure that your heel is perfectly aligned to the center of the left foot. Lift your arms sideways and place your palms in the upward direction. Inhale and as you exhale, bend your right knee and right ankle. Now gently turn your head and look to your right. Maintain this position for a few seconds with a smiling face. Now slowly take a deep breath and relax. Repeat this asana with your left foot.
