Success story of Barbara Bradley and Patricia Miller founders of Vera Bradley

From stay-at-home mothers to founders of a multi-billion brand Vera Bradley, Barbara Bradley, and Patricia Miller have become one of the notable ones in the American fashion industry. Friendship has always been the cornerstone of the success of Vera Bradley.  Vera Bradley is a popular American luggage and handbag design company. It is interesting to dig deep into the success story on how this brand has come into existence. It is dated way back to 1982 when both the friends Barbara Bradley and Patricia Miller while waiting at the Atlantic airport were bothered by the ugly luggage for women and decided to start a company which makes colourful handbags and luggage.  Initially, they did not have money to fund their company so they borrowed $250 from their husbands and bought some fabric to make the bags.

Inspired by English and French designs, according to the designers, the designs were created keeping in mind the American taste. With the company’s mission statement ‘to be a girl’s best friend’, the label is known for colourful prints and high-quilted cotton bags. Soon the brand has become one of the favourites among various other American brands. Recently the brand had expanded their product offerings from just handbags to clothing, fragrance, jewellery, eyewear are just a few. Apart from offering a wide variety of products the brand had decided to make few changes in their designs by introducing the concept of quilt, leather and faux-leather. The leather handbags come in bold colours such as cobalt, Fuchsia, tango red and magenta. Every season the brand launches new designs keeping in mind the latest trends.
