The opening batsmen for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were not up to the mark and Shane Watson simply could not strike gold this season. However, Dhoni had his back the entire tournament and his faith was restored as Watson smashed 80 runs off 59 balls, almost winning the trophy for CSK.
Recently, Shane Watson’s fellow team mate Harbhajan Singh revealed something on his Instagram stories that increased our respect for the australian by leaps and bounds. Harbhajan said, “Can you guys see the blood on his knee.. He got 6 stitches after the game..Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone.”
Watson fired his way through the finals and almost won the match before Lasith Malinga destroyed the opposition with his bowling in the death. Shane Watson’s effort went in vain as Mumbai Indians beat CSK by only 1 run to win this edition of the Indian Premier League.
CSK has received a lot of flak for having the most number of seniors in the team. Reacting on the issue, Chennai coach Stephen Fleming said, “We will give some time for dust to settle down. I think if you win one title and reach the final next time, you have had good two years. We do understand that we are an ageing team. So at some point, we just have to look at recreating the side, obviously MS as well.”
Chennai Super Kings has been the most consistent side, appearing in eight finals and winning 3 of them out of the ten seasons they have played. We cannot wait to see what the skipper has in store for us next year!
