In a recent interview for Net-a-Porter’s digital magazine, The Edit. Shailene Woodley opened up about the relationship she shares her parents.
"I came home to things that weren't great," Woodley admits, noting that her family had a policy of taking in those in need, including runaways and people fleeing domestic violence. "My family is super-f**ked up in many ways, but they are also my everything. They would do anything for me, and I would do anything for them," she adds. "That's a lot more than most people can say about their families. I'm grateful for the s**t that happened."
Her dad, a psychologist, and her mom, a counsellor, would invite teen runaways and victims of domestic violence to live in their home. "That was the kind of reverse, manipulative psychology my parents were into! It gave me a broader outlook.”
