Safed Double Ka Meetha

Ingredients            Qty
bread                      12 slices
pistachios                20 gm
cardamom powder    10 gm
almonds                  20 gm
milk                        1 L
sugar                      100 gm
ghee                       for frying
silver leaf                 6 leaves
saffron                     ½ gm
red cherry               20 gm
rose water              2 Tbsp


1.   Trim the edges of the bread. Heat sugar and water in a vessel, and boil until the sugar melts and turns into a sticky syrup.

2.   Add rose water and cardamom powder to the sugar syrup once the consistency turns thick.

3.   Heat ghee separately in a pan. Roast the bread on a low flame by spreading ghee on them until they turn light brown.

4.   Soak the roasted bread in warm milk and set aside. Add these to sugar syrup and cook for 3-5 minutes on a low flame until you get the thick consistency of the dessert. Garnish with silver leaf, sliced almonds, pistachios, saffron and red cherries.
