A 25-year-old entrepreneur, fashion enthusiast, travel blogger, food fanatic, and avid Instagrammer, Trishala Kamath is a vivacious young woman from Hyderabad who recently took an exciting four-day trip with her boyfriend to Udaipur in Rajasthan. “I love travelling as it takes me away from my daily routine, allowing me to come back refreshed so I can work even better,” she says as she recounts her experience on this trip.
The couple wanted to take a relaxing holiday, immersed in history, culture, and royalty. So the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, known as the Venice of the East, was the perfect place to go. “We had a tour guide who took us around the city,” she tells. “I remember walking through the City Palace as our guide told us stories of the royals who have lived there. The palace was built over 400 years by several rulers from the Mewar Dynasty, so it serves as a beautiful confluence of several generations of artistic and aesthetic tastes!”
“We are major history buffs, so we utterly enjoyed visiting the magnificent palaces and imposing forts, and listening to stories about them,” Trishala adds. “We also visited the Vintage and Classic Car Museum that houses a collection of some of the rarest classic and vintage vehicles. Then we went to Jagmandir, also known as Lake Garden Palace, a palace built on an island in Lake Pichola. Fateh Sagar was another beautiful lake we visited. It’s an artificial lake that has been named after Maharana Fateh Sagar.”
“Udaipur is rich in culture and history, but it also has some of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever tasted. Try the typical Rajasthani thali, but don’t miss out on my personal favourite: the fiery Rajasthani meat curry, Lal Maas,” she grins. “I would also recommend travellers to check out the city’s artwork. Rajasthan is well-known for its paintings, jewellery, and bags. I also advise setting aside some time to shop at Ganesh Emporio. You will have a blast!”
“Overall, I had an amazing experience in Udaipur, but the one thing that has burned this trip into my memory forever was when my boyfriend planned a dinner for us,” Trishala fondly reminisces. “He had arranged a beautifully romantic candle-lit dinner for us on the famous Mewar Terrace of the Taj Lake Palace. After a scrumptious meal, coupled with the royal vibes, a gorgeous view of the city below us, and the intimate setting of the dinner, he took me by surprise as he proposed!” she gushes. “We were surrounded by candles and rose petals, as fireworks went off in the middle of the lake! No matter what superlative adjective I use, it would understate the way I felt that evening. It was perfect in every way!”
Trishala set out to the splendidly royal city of Udaipur with a boyfriend and came back with a fiancé. Could there be any more perfect ending to a vacation? She thinks not, and we agree with her!
