Pregnant women: Safety guidelines to combat coronavirus

Pregnancy is quit an exciting phase in a women’s life but at times it can be stressful too. Especially with the new coronavirus pandemic, all the expecting mothers out there  might be having a million questions running in their mind. One common question that majority of pregnant women have are they at a higher risk of getting affected by this deadly diseases? Also will the illness affect the baby?

Since this virus is still new disease, studies are ongoing as to whether pregnant women and their babies are at a high risk or not. Even if there is no proper study stating that this coronavirus might be dangerous for women who are planning to become pregnant or are already pregnant, just like everyone even they have to follow a few safety guidelines.

1. Social distancing- One of the essential steps to take in order to combat coronavirus is to distance ourselves from each other. Just stay at home and avoid going to crowded places or coming in contact with people who are down with fever or cold.

2. Maintain personal hygiene- Wash your hand  with soap and water for about 20 minutes before eating, after blowing your nose and after using the washroom. As must as you can restrict yourself from touching your mouth, nose and eyes.

3. Always clean your surrounding and food- Pregnancy is quit an exciting phase in a women’s life but at times it can be stressful too. 4. Use a tissue- When you or your family members are coughing, use a tissue and immediately discard and wash your hands thoroughly.

5. Eat healthy food- Make sure your body is getting all the essential nutrients it requires for proper functioning. Also incorporate foods that boost your immunity levels in your daily diet. Along with eating nutritious food, keep yourself well hydrated.

6. Wear a mask wile breastfeeding- After delivering, you must wear mask while breastfeeding your baby and also wash your hands thoroughly before touching your new born. Its also recommended to wash your hands before touching baby products.

7. Stay positive- Along with following these simple guidelines, you must also stay positive at all times. One of way to do this is to meditate on a regular basis and also do some physical activity. During this difficult time, it is very important to not only look after your physical but also your mental wellbeing.
