Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara

The iconic tune of the song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’, from the era of Doordarshan was created by Lok Seva Sanchar Parishad in 1988. It infused a strong sense of belonging in the community, back in the days, and inspired the spirit of patriotism among the residents of India. The song was written by Piyush Pandey, composed by Ashok Patki and arranged by Louis Banks. The song was telecast for the first time on the Republic Day of 1988 after the telecast of Prime Minister’s speech from the Red Fort. Times changed, the song was forgotten for a while. Twenty years later in 2010, entertainment broadcast channel re-recorded and telecast the song featuring an exciting cast & crew from Bollywood Zoom TV to mark the 60th Republic Day. The new song was 16 minutes and 17 seconds in length, whereas the original track was of 6 minutes and 9 seconds. It was titled Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara. The legendary Amitabh Bachchan, along with top celebrities of the day — Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, A.R.Rahman, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra were seen in the song, among others. During the recording of the track, Mr Bachchan expressed his thoughts saying “I think it’s very symbolic, not just because of the history that this marvellous institution has had, but the fact that we want to send a very concrete message. We are strong, we are one and we are going to remain together and fight any kind of evil that comes our way.” This year, once again, the song is set to be telecast on Zoom TV, to witness the 70th Republic Day.
