Over the past few years social networking sites have become a huge success and co-Founder of once popular social networking website Orkut, Büyükkökten has developed a new application ‘Hello’, which allows users to connect with people who share common interests.
The new app is available on Android and IOS and the way the app works is once the user downloads the app it prompts the users to set up their profile by providing details such as their last name, first name, date of birth, gender, location and languages spoken, however there is an age limit equal to or above 18 years old should use the ‘Hello’ app. Once the user is logged in, the homepage will narrow down the news feed based on the five personas, that the user selects such as actor, animal lover, photography, foodie, traveler etc. The app will enable users to interact with people by joining a community or creating one. Users can interact with their friends by inviting them to join the app. Just like Facebook the app has a news feed where the user can browse through and like posts by clicking on the heart symbol or comment on the post. However the app is quite safe because it does not use any external data other than the users phone contacts. Unlike Facebook which allows users to form social connections through networking and friends, ‘Hello’ app connects users purely based on the interests that they share with others.
While the app is only available on mobile, they are speculations that it will be made available on the browser as well.
