NIFT is a statutory institution by an act of Parliament of India, enabling it to award its own degrees. NIFT offers Bachelors, Master and Doctoral Programmesin the areas of Design, Management and Technology.NIFT was established in the year 1986 with a mandate to supply trained manpower to fashion and lifestyleindustry. NIFT Hyderabad centerwas opened in the year 1995. NIFT has total 17centersat present, spread across India.The 23rdConvocationCeremony of NIFT, Hyderabad was held at NIFT Campus, Hitech City, Hyderabad. Graduating batch of 2020were conferred their degrees.A total of 212studentsgraduatedfrom NIFT Hyderabadin 2020.179 Undergraduate studentsof Batch 2016-20 &33 Post-Graduate students of Batch 2018-20“The Best Academic Award” is felicitated to the topper of each of the 7 programs offered at NIFT, Hyderabad as mentioned below. Meritorious students would be felicitated with medals from 7 departments.1.Fashion Design2.Textile Design3.Fashion Communication4.Accessory Design5.Knitwear Design6.Fashion Technology and7.Master in Fashion Management.Besides the academic awards Best Extraordinaryservice award and NIFT Student of the year award is also awarded during the ceremony.Chief Guest: Shri Bhaskar Khulbe, IAS(Retd.), Advisor to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.The Guest of Honour: Shri Shantmanu, IAS, Director General, NIFT.Special guests: 1)Shri V. Sheshadri, IAS , Secretary, CM Office, Telangana.2) Smt. Richa Gaharwar, IRS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NIFT.Shri. Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, Director NIFT Hyderabad welcomed the Chief guest and special guests and accompanied them to the dias. Director gave a welcome speech to all the graduating batch students. Chief guest Shri Bhaskar Khulbe, Retd. IAS, addressed to the students on getting GI’s for handlooms and handicrafts and encouraged students to take risk in life to lead their country and emphasis on attitude passion and integrity. Shri. Shantmanu, IAS, DG NIFT congratulated the batch and advised the students to stay connected to their alma mater. Mr, Pawan Kumar Dasaraju, eminent alumnus of NIFT Hyderabad emphasized five values of life -value of ethics, value of diversity and cultural equality, value of curiosity, value of time and value of family. The students were then conferred their degrees and merit awards. The program ended with vote of thanks by Shri L. Madan Kumar Reddy
