New Life for your Skin!

Who doesn’t want to look good? But feeling good is just as important and these days, spas, clinics and salons offer many ways to both look and feel good.

We bring you four exciting beauty treatments that will keep you looking and feeling fresh, vibrant and happy all through the year!

Special Summer Facials:

Facials are certainly in this summer! Anuradha, director of Anoo’s Beauty Salon tells us more about the facials they have on offer. “Fruits like watermelon, cucumber, orange and sweet lime are used, while natural products made of tulsi, neem, sandalwood, pudina and herbs are added to the blend. The procedure involves toning, exfoliating, scrubbing, massaging with fruit pulp, moisturising and applying the natural mask.  The whole procedure takes about 45 minutes to an hour, and is good for rejuvenating, exfoliating, soothing and relaxing the skin.” The salon also uses non oil-based products which help treat acne problems.

VLCC also offers a variety of facials. Anu Asthana, a beauty therapist at VLCC says, “Facials are performed according to the client’s skin type – oily, dry or a combination of both.” She further tells us about some of the summer facials at VLCC such as the tan remover facial which treats suntans. The glow facial, which is for all skin types, helps bring a glow to the face, and the glycea facial is for uneven skin, pigmentation and is also used for skin lightening. All these procedures involve water cleansing, exfoliation, toning and steaming, followed by cold compression. These facial treatments are available for all age groups.

Chocolate Wrap:

The chocolate wrap is widely recognised for its anti-ageing and toning properties. Chocolate acts as a revitaliser and moisturiser, and on application releases endorphins that make it a great de-stresser and mood-booster. Anuradha explains the process to us, “After making the paste with cocoa, chocolate essence and fruit pulp, vitamin E oil is applied, after which the chocolate is laid out and evenly spread with a brush. A luxurious body massage follows. Then the body is wrapped tightly for about 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate to penetrate the skin.”

The whole process takes about an hour and is open to all age groups and skin types. Interestingly, a study has also found that cocoa powder has anti-oxidant properties, even greater than that of red wine, which can protect against heart disease.

Organic Treatment:

This is a special treatment at Anoo's which includes both the body and face. It is done with the use of organic microdermabrasion pouches that are mixed with natural herbal ingredients. The relaxing facial consists of an exfoliation that takes about 30-45 minutes. Soothing masks and cool compresses are also applied. The treatment is completed over a number of sessions, and includes an oatmeal facial and wheat dough facial prepared by the team at Anoo's themselves. The organic treatment not only cleanses and tones the skin, but also moisturises, exfoliates, de-toxifies and removes tans. It also helps remove scars, marks, blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and dead skin cells.

Body Polishing:

There are three ways that body polishing can be done, according to the patient’s skin type – 1) with the use of chemicals, 2) mechanical exfoliation using microdermabrasion machines, and 3) exfoliation with the use of organic microdermal pouches.

Body polishing helps treat acne scars, marks, pimples, unclogs plugged pores and resizes enlarged pores, removes blackheads, skin blemishes, age spots, superficial pigmentation and stretch marks. It also prepares and stimulates the skin for advanced rejuvenation treatments, eliminates wrinkles and smoothes uneven skin tone.

Anuradha says, “Every 21 days, new cells grow, requiring the removal of dead skin cells in order to allow the skin to breathe.” She adds, “Mild treatments are recommended every 1 to 2 weeks, depending upon the strength of the skin.”

These and other beauty therapies are not only becoming increasingly popular among females, but among men as well! Asked about the popularity of beauty therapy among men, Anuradha claims, "Although people may not be widely aware of it, 30% of men are already picking availing of beauty treatments and the numbers are increasing by the day." So no matter what gender you belong to, get out there and treat yourself to a luxurious experience that will rejuvenate both your mind and body!
