Netflix has given Anonymous Content and Paramount TV’s ‘13 Reasons Why’, executive produced by Selena Gomez, a straight-to-series order. According to The Wrap, Gomez will also executive produce alongside Mandy Teefey and Kristel Laiblin.
Based on the Jay Asher novel of the same name, “13 Reasons Why” tells the stories of the late Hannah Baker, a high school student who committed suicide, through a series of seven cassette tapes she recorded prior to her death and sent to her classmate Clay, who has yet to be cast. On the tapes, which get passed along to other students based on Hannah’s instructions, Hannah reveals the 13 reasons why she took her own life.
Selena just released her new album, ‘Revival’, on Oct. 9. She’s also been filming many movies over the course of the last year, including ‘The Big Short’, ‘The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving’, ‘In Dubious Battle’ and ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising’.
