Popular American clothing brand, Levi Strauss & Co has collaborated with Google to launch the Levi’s Commuter Trucker jacket, woven with a gesture and touch interactivity specifically designed for commuters.
The new denim jacket is designed to integrate capacitive threads with copper cores into the jacket. The left sleeve cuff of the jacket consists of a removable snap tag, which allows users to interact with their smartphone using commands sent to the phone. The new denim jacket works on the Jacquard technology, which enables wearers to perform various tasks such as reading incoming text messages, starting or stopping music, and getting directions. All the tasks are performed by simply tapping or swiping the sleeve of the jacket. The Jacquard system automatically sets your phone into biking mode and reads text messages loud while biking.
Another interesting feature of the Commuter Trucker jacket is a small dongle is connected to the sleeve, which informs the wearers to put the jacket into the washer and dryer.
Levi’s Commuter Trucker jacket will be available in a few American stores from September 27th 2017 and the Levi’s website from October 2nd 2017.
