Located in the heart of Delhi – Connaught Place (CP), Kwality Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants of the city. More than 78 years old, this restaurant recently underwent a renovation to get an exquisite facelift, and now wears wallpapers that are designed by the famous Indian fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The stunning interiors of this restaurant also showcase the 80-year-old one-inch mosaic tiles that were specially shipped from Italy.
After Independence, Kwality stood the test of time and strongly maintained its historical significance and relevance. And visiting this heritage restaurant is like going back in time – the walls are a standing proof. The red velvet curtains add an old-world charm to the brand new setting, and behind these curtains at the entrance is a whole different world altogether! A typical maharaja-style polo bar with antique trophies and cups, an infantry soldier’s uniform from the Napoleonic era, and a cosy piano lounge fill up the interiors of this historic restaurant. Even today, during high tea, a pianist and a jazz band add life to this place on a daily basis.
Getting down to business and talking about food, Kwality Restaurant has hidden treasures that not many are aware of. The famous chhole bhature is still made by the same cook for the past 40 years! The fluffy cheese balls are a huge hit here. The newly-introduced, revamped menu comprises of high tea kebabs, Irish stew, avadhi nalli, finger sandwiches, high tea kebabs, masala lamb chops, and lots more. And, of course, the dessert- you cannot end your meal without having the iconic tutti frutti ice cream and their special pudding. What started off as an ice cream parlor in the Regal Building in the year 1940 has also expanded to Kwality Restaurant, which is known for its unparalleled fine dining experience!
