Kendrick Lamar Breaks Spotify Record

After a surprise early release of his new album To Pimp A Butterfly’ on Monday, Kendrick Lamar is making headlines by setting a new Spotify record for the most streams in a single day, 9.6 million to be exact. This beats the previous record holder, Michael Bublé’s Christmas, which garnered 9.5m streams on Christmas Eve in 2014. This means Lamar's new long-player brought in about $44,160 in a single day globally, according to ‘Billboard’ estimates.
The 27-year-old rapper’s new album is the long-awaited follow-up to Lamar's successful and critically acclaimed 2012 album "good kid, m.A.A.d City," and had its first hit last year with the single "i."
‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ is currently available on all digital retailers, and will be hitting stores at some point this weekbut for now, the album can be bought on iTunes. The album also continues to hold the No. 1 spot on iTunes.
