The talented Indian model-turned-actor Namit Khanna, famous for his hit role as Dr Sid in Sanjivani is blessed with charm, good looks, and phenomenal photography skills! After being one of India’s top supermodels, Namit made his acting debut with Vikram Bhatt’s web series Twisted opposite Nia Sharma. The actor is extremely passionate about photography, and has captured numerous scenic views of all his international travel destinations.
“I usually do a Google search on countries to visit under various categories” says Namit Khanna, on how he chooses his destinations. “I look at the nature along with happening towns or cities that can fulfil my thirst for photography. After narrowing down to 1-2 countries, depending on the number of days I have, I make a broad outline of my trip. The first couple of nights are usually booked at the city I arrive at, and the rest are shortlisted places that I play it by ear.”
The actor chose Sri Lanka as it was a short flight, and he had never been to the country before. More importantly, he had six days to travel as he had to get back to work. After all, the show must go on!
Namit usually prefers travelling along with a travel partner, or alone. He also enjoys travelling with his parents, and he plans the trip in a way that their itineraries overlap at different points. According to Namit, that’s the perfect balance of having someone with you, while also being on your own! His vacation to Sri Lanka was a solo birthday trip.
As he arrived in Colombo, the star first checked into Marino Beach Hotelfor the night. Later, he met up with an old Sri Lankan friend who took him around for lunch and a bit of sightseeing.
After an invigorating swim at night, he visited the spa, and then tried out their highly recommended local street food dish, Chicken Kottu.
The next morning after breakfast, he got into a car with a tour guide and headed on towards the south beaches. As he arrived at Bentota and checked into the surf, he chilled for a while and then went out with thetour guide to meet a few locals over dinner and a few beers! The next day washis birthday, and was super special from the moment he woke up!
Namit stayed at the Marino Beach Hotel, the EKHO Surf Bentota, and on his birthday, at The Frangipani Tree by Edwards Collection. Surprisingly, he was the only guest there at that time, on the entire property! He was having such a wonderful time that he decided to stay there for the rest of the trip!
When asked about his most special moment of the trip, his unwavering answer was having the entire boutique resort completely to himself! He especially enjoyed the service and staff, and a particularly friendly dog! He recalls that there were hundreds of thousands of migrating birds from Europe thatflew to the property every evening at sunset, to rest for the night. As this happens only once a year, he was lucky enough to be in the perfect place at the perfect time!
Namit would most definitely recommend this trip to people, and has told a lot of people about it! “Wait for my YouTube video of this trip!” he says, “I have captured it all!!”
Talking about the people, he mentioned how it took him a little while to trust the locals, but once he did, there was no turning back! He formed a lovely bond with his driver, who was also his tour guide for the duration of his trip.
The actor is surely going to revisit the country, as he could only explore the beaches down south because of his time constraint. With a lot more places and sights to visit and the short flight journey, Sri Lanka is one of the places he would visit again! – Devanshi
