Instagram has been one of the most popular social media platforms widely used to share photos and daily news feed. On April 11 2017, Instagram launched an update for its messaging feature called Direct, which in a single thread combines the auto-disappearing photos and videos along with text conversations. This redesigned feature is available on the 10.16 updated version that will easily turn any conversation into a visual conversation with videos and photos.

Previously Instagram Direct was divided into two sections one with traditional chats where permanent texts, photos or videos messages would appear and the other in the form of circular story like message bubbles at the top of the screen with an option to swipe right from the feed to access camera features and send filtered pictures and videos as disappearing messages.
Instagram Direct provides a unified experience where temporary photos and videos will appear along with text messages and reshared posts, so one could seamlessly go back and forth with friends in the same thread. This new feature will enable users to swipe left and tap the camera icon at the bottom to take a disappearing video or photo, which can be sent to individual friends or group of friends. Direct Instagram comes with an additional feature where new disappearing messages sent to the user is highlighted in blue in their inbox, which can be viewed with just one tap and they can keep a track of contacts that have seen their messages using notifications within the thread.
