Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams Sued for Copyright Infringement

Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams are being sued $25 million over copyright infringement claim.

The pair co-wrote Stefani’s 2014 song ‘Spark The Fire’, which is the subject of the lawsuit. Musician Richard Morrill is claiming that the track’s chorus bears musical and lyrical similarities to his 1996 song ‘Who’s Got My Lightah‘.

Not only does Richard state that the melody and rhythm of ‘Spark the Fire’ is identical to his, he notes that the chorus shares similar lyrics and the same key as his tune.  The lyrics in Gwen’s song are “Let’s spark the fire. Who got the lighter?” The lyrics in Richard Morrill’s track say “Who’s got my lighter? Who got the fire?”

Richard Morill’s suing her for the $25 million he believes Gwen and Pharrell made from ‘Spark the Fire.’
