Google Doodle demonstrates the Geminid meteor shower
Google has specially dedicated its doodle to represent one of the important astronomical event that comes every year in the month of December, the Geminid meteor shower.
The Geminids produce shooting stars in the night sky. The magnificent showers are brought to the earth’s atmosphere by an asteroid named Phaethon. The 3200 Phaethon is fondly referred to as a ‘rock comet’ because the heat of the sun fractures the rock and creates the trail of debris that the earth is about to barrel through. The celestial event is going to be at its high point with upto 120 meteors per hour.
