Gingerbread cookies are fun and easy to make, the festive evening is incomplete without these holiday favourite.
½ cup of soften butter
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup molasses
3 cup all purpose flour
1tsp baking soda
¼ tsp of freshly ground cloves
½ tsp of cinnamon and grated nutmeg
1 tsp of freshly ground ginger
½ tsp salt
1 tsp soften butter for greasing the baking tray
¼ cup milk
Pre heat the oven at 180c.
In a bowl cream in the soften butter and sugar until its light and fluffy, now add the molasses and beat it well till everything is incorporated properly. In a separate bowl add in all the dry ingredients and mix well.
Add in the dry mixture to the cream butter and sugar alternating with milk to make it a soft dough, if the dough seems to be hard and crumble adjust it with little extra milk to make it soft . Roll the dough out to a thickness of about ½ inch and cut into shapes with a cutter, transfer the shapes on to a greased pan.
Decorate the gingerbreads with berries like eyes or red dots for buttons, before baking by pressing them on to the soft dough or after baking with the help of the frosting.
Bake for seven to eight min, until the cookies are puffed up or spring back once they are pressed. Transfer the cookies from the pan to wire rack and let it cool. Decorate the gingerbreads as per your choice and enjoy.
