On a Festive High Diwali

Dear Readers,

With the most popular Indian festival, Diwali being right around the corner, festivity is at its peak. Post Dussehra, every Indian across the globe begins preparing for what is the most anticipated festival of the year—the festival of lights. Celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil, it is when people are in a joyous mood and are getting together with family and friends to spend quality time with their loved ones. They’re also indulging in the annual Diwali cleaning of their homes and offices, shopping for new clothes, and relishing some delicious sweets and savouries.

To keep the spirit of the festival going, we got in touch with a few families from various cities to find out how they celebrate the festival. While some share their most treasured childhood memories of the festival, others talk about playing cards at the various taash parties, and also share what their favourite Diwali gift has been. Check out the Feature for the whole scoop.

One of Bollywood’s most talented and gorgeous actresses, Katrina Kaif looks drop dead gorgeous on our Diwali cover, in stunning gold jewellery by Kalyan Jewellers, proving that gold can be teamed with just about any attire.

A fashion designer who began sketching at a very young age, Zara Umrigar was drawn towards fashion right from her childhood. After a detailed course in fashion design from the London College of Fashion, she began working with her mother who’s also a designer, before starting her own label. Read all about her in People in Focus. We also have the popular designer and founder of Valliyan, a luxury fashion jewellery label, Nitya Arora who gets talking about why she chose jewellery designing amongst other topics.

Movie stars often travel the world on work, but not often do they get time to actually explore the cities they visit. When Angela Krislinzki visited Koh Samui in Thailand for a movie shooting, she made sure to extend her trip and have a little vacation of her own. Read about her escapade in Grand Getaways.
