How did you get into acting?
I was always passionate about acting, starting from my school days. I used to do a lot of theatre, dancing and other performances. I’ve always been inclined towards watching movies and enacting dialogues. I moved to Bombay to kick-start my career. I did a few ads and commercials before I got my big break in Paisa Vasool.
Who would you like to work with in the near future?
My favourite person in the south industry is Mahesh Babu and I’ve always wanted to work opposite him. Other than him, I admire Prabhas, Vijay Devarakonda and Allu Arjun. It would be a dream come true to work with any of them.
How do you define fashion?
For me, fashion is something you’re really comfortable in, and feel like you can be yourself in. It’s your way of expressing to the world how you’d like to be addressed. Fashion is a great form of self-expression and can lighten up your day. Fashion is fun.
What challenges have you faced in the industry?
I’ve obviously faced a lot of challenges as an actor, starting with rejection! Every actor is sure to go through rejection; it’s a part of the process. Being an actor requires a lot of patience, since it’s not a very stable industry and you don’t always get what you want. It’s challenging to keep yourself focused in the face of adversity and know what you want. You need to keep working, even if you don’t always get a positive response, and you need to constantly motivate yourself.
What excites you the most about this industry?
Everything about the industry excites me, especially getting respect, admiration and love from fans. For me, it’s the biggest high I can feel when people recognise and look up to me. Creating something that lives on even after you are no more – that’s the beauty of cinema.
Do you have any particular approach to acting?
My approach is to get into the skin of the character that the director has created. I must portray his imagination, and research and workshops are an essential part of understanding the vision, and putting it out on the screen. I try to draw inspiration from real people who have inspired the creation of the character.
What are you working on currently?
Currently I am working on the film Ragala 24 Gantallo by Sreenivas Redde, a web series with Zee5 called Love Sleep Repeat, and another web series with Netflix called Masaba Masaba.
