Recently, Emilia Clarke revealed that she turned down the lead role in ‘50 Shades of Grey’ as she was sick of onscreen nudity.
The Game Of Thrones star appeared naked several times in the first season which aired in 2011. This had the media constantly bothering her with questions regarding nudity. She said, “the last time that I was naked on camera was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman. And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character — I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my t**s, for God’s sake.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter during an actress roundtable, Emilia Clarke said that though she only did a minimal amount of nudity, she was pigeonholed for life. With regards to 50 shades of grey, she added, “me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, ‘No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, ‘No, you can’t keep asking me this question.’”
The actress played the lead in the Game Of Thrones, which unfortunately received severe backlash for its last and final season that ended on 20th May 2019.
