DIY for Healthy Skin and Hair

Every woman wants zit-free, clear, and glowing skin. And although the cosmetic industry offers solutions for healthy skin and hair, the harsh chemicals present in the readily available products can damage the skin in the long run. The best way to get glowing skin and hair in an instant is by using natural DIY homemade packs.

So it’s time to pamper yourself with ingredients that are readily available in your kitchen cabinet. Here are some options.

Rice Flour, Honey, and Tea Water
What you will need: Two tablespoons of rice flour, one tablespoon of honey, and one cup of green tea water (once cooled).

Mix all the ingredients into a fine paste and apply on your face.
Leave the mask on for 20 minutes or until it completely dries and wash it off with cold water.

Tip: Before rinsing off the mask with water, make sure to massage in circular motion as this will remove the dead skin and even out the skin tone.

Rice Flour. It goes without saying that rice is rich in essential minerals, and it has been one of the most beneficial skin care products for generations. Rice flour includes vitamin C and para amino benzoic acid along with ferulic acid and allantoin. These ingredients protect the skin from harmful UV radiation, even the skin tone by absorbing the sebum, and remove dead skin. They also boost skin elasticity. The starchy and granular texture of rice makes it a perfect ingredient for hair tightening and toning.

Honey. Honey, a commonly found ingredient in most skincare remedies, has antibacterial properties and plays a crucial role in treating various skin ailments. Honey is also used as a natural exfoliator as it removes dead skin cells and rejuvenates the skin.

Green Tea Water. This simple drink contains antioxidants and tannins that control the blood vessels under the surface of the skin to help treat puffy eyes and under-eye circles. It fights signs of ageing by neutralising free radicals and contains antibacterial properties. Green tea is excellent for treating scalp problems as well as dryness and dandruff. It also promotes hair growth.

Yeast, Carrot Juice, and Oats
What you will need: Three tablespoons of carrot juice, one teaspoon of yeast, two teaspoons of powdered oats, and honey (for dry skin).

Mix all the ingredients into a fine paste. If you have dry skin, add honey.
Apply this thick paste on your face in a uniform layer and leave it on for 30 minutes.
After it completely dries, wet your face with warm water and peel off the mask by gently massaging.
Tip: Make sure to do a patch test with yeast before applying this mask. For best results, apply this mask once a week, followed by a moisturiser and a toner.
Yeast. Yeast contains cell pampering nutrients such as proteins, chromium, selenium, and vitamin B. This ingredient aids in collagen production, promotes cell renewal, and improves skin texture. Yeast also fights against bacteria that leads to acne.

Carrot Juice. Carrot juice contains vitamin A, which fights against free radicals to prevent signs of ageing. Carrot also has vitamin C, which aids in the production of collagen and promotes glowing skin.
Oats. Oats contain saponins, a natural cleanser which removes dirt and oil from the pores. Due to its antioxidant benefit, it helps reverse the damage caused by UV rays, pollution and harsh chemicals. Oats acts as a natural exfoliator and helps alleviate acne. It also aids in lightening the skin.
