A popular face in the television industry, Pooja Banerjee is an extremely talented actor. Besides acting, she loves to travel with her husband, Sandeep Sejwal. “Travelling is the best way to meet and connect with people from different cultural backgrounds and professions,” she says, adding, “Learning about different cultures opens up a whole new perspective of the world around us.”
“After working simultaneously on multiple projects, it was time for me to take a break from work and spend some quality time with my partner.” “I always wanted to visit a place with snowfall and when I told this to my husband, he planned a surprise trip to Switzerland. And I must admit, there’s no better place to be in winter than Switzerland,” she exclaims.
The couple decided to stay in and explore a popular winter tourist resort village called Arosa. This famous winter ski resort is located in the beautiful Schanfigg Valley in Grisons. Pooja says, “The moment I arrived at Arosa, I fell in love with the place and its jaw-dropping scenery.” Here, the lovely couple decided to experience some adventurous activities. Pooja says, “Since Arosa is one of the most popular destinations for skiing, we thought of trying it but after seeing the steep ski slopes, we decided against it.” But instead of skiing, Pooja and Sandeep tried snow swimming and they loved every bit of it, especially the amazing view of mountains. After swimming, the couple decided to take a stroll in the neighbourhood. Pooja recalls, “It was lovely to walk around the neighbourhood and explore the local culture and attractions.”
During the actress’ stay at Arosa, she says, the most memorable time was when she and her husband gazed at the heavy snowfall while soaking in the hot tub. “For all those who are planning a romantic getaway with their partner, this has to be on your bucket list,” she quirps.
Next on the itinerary was a visit to the Tschuggen Grand Hotel. This five star property is located close to the slopes of Arosa Lenzerheide, and has panoramic views of the snow blanketed landscape and the clear blue skies. It is known for its 5,000 square metre wellness centre that was exclusively designed by well-known Swiss architect, Mario Botta. After spending some time exploring the hotel, Pooja and Sandeep decided to have dinner at the Igloo Village that is located outside the Tschuggen Grand Hotel. This restaurant is designed in the shape of an icy igloo and dining here is an absolutely delightful experience. A pre-selected
three-course meal is served to the guests. Some of the items on the menu include Pickled Pumpkins, Grisons Salsiz (local sausages), Kirsch, fresh garlic, truffles, cheese fondue and champagne. The travellers thoroughly enjoyed their hearty meal and Pooja recalls that the freshly made cheese fondue and creamy risotto were her favourite dishes. She strongly advices everyone who visits this restaurant to try them too.
Besides savouring the scrumptious delicacies of Switzerland, Pooja fell in love with the jaw-dropping scenic beauty of this stunning winter wonderland. When asked what struck her the most about this place, she replied, “Although Arosa is a small place, it is nothing less than a paradise for those who love being close to nature. The people at Arosa are very friendly and helpful, and of course, always well-dressed.”
