Bustling Around Bangkok

After such a stressful year, we all have surely earned a well-deserved break. And what better place to relax and unwind than Thailand? The culture of the Far East is quite fascinating, and the idea of a holiday to Bangkok quite exciting. If you’re short on time, this is the ideal vacation for you!

With a fascinating union of modern elements and rich history, Bangkok was a small port for ships over four centuries ago. Today, it is a bustling city with a vibrant and colourful culture. Highly intriguing, each corner has a piece of history tucked away, waiting to tell the visitor its story. Bangkok has much to offer – magnificent palaces, spectacular temples, and, of course, the world-famous floating markets. While the ancient palaces and temples lie in the old city of Bangkok, the other side is the new face of Bangkok, with its high-rise buildings, malls and business centres. The combinations and contradictions are fascinating.

Your days will be packed with all kinds of wonderful experiences, from sightseeing, shopping and nightlife, to historical monuments and sacred temples. Because of the diversity of what Bangkok has to offer, each experience will be memorable. Ensure you visit the Ancient City – a 320-acre outdoor museum that’s an architectural reflection of Thailand. It showcases the country’s significant historical monuments, landmarks, palaces and temples as miniature replicas. The two sides of Bangkok are pretty evident, and you’ll for sure enjoy both. The shopping and the nightlife will satisfy the cravings of even the most demanding, while the architecture and history will call to your soul. Another must-visit place is the Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) and the Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), which give an insightful look into the rich cultural heritage and Buddhist philosophy of Thailand.

The old part of the city is a treat for the eyes. Beyond the skyscrapers and snarling traffic, Bangkok sparkles with magnificent gilded palaces and colourful markets. The shimmering gold Great Palace, built-in 1782 is quite breath-taking with its six pairs of enormous demons protecting the temple complex! MeuangBoran, the ancient city, houses over a hundred of the country’s most impressive monuments, and a day spent here is worth your time! You’ll also find the legendary Floating markets that sell everything from fresh fruit to kitchen gadgets, and are quite the experience. If you visit during peak season, be wary of huge crowds of tourists, all jostling to get the perfect snap, cameras at the ready. (While you’re at it, also look out for pickpockets and thieves preying on careless tourists. We recommend wearing your bags on your front.) Don’t let the crowd deter you from having fun and experiencing something new. A sunset cruise on the river Chao Phraya, Bangkok’s lifeline, is a wonderful experience that’ll you’ll be retelling at parties for years to come.

Now comes the most important part – shopping! As you already know, retail therapy is one of the major reasons to visit Bangkok. The city has simply everything, from modern malls to delightful traditional bazaars, most of which are open late into the night for keen shoppers, so go out and make the most of it!

When you’re not visiting the spectacular temples and magnificent markets and bazaars, just laze around and walk through the city. Though Bangkok offers great places to experience the irresistible Thai massages, sleep will be the last thing on your mind in this colourfully vibrant city.

Anybody who visits Bangkok always loves it, and the city makes it onto the list of people’s favourite destinations more often than you’d think. In addition to great food and divine retail therapy experience, you’ll remember Bangkok for its diverse culture and amazing vibes.
