Bridgerton, a British drama show set between 1813 and 1827, on Netflix is inspired by Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels by the same name. After a splendid Season 1, the makers announced in January that Season 2 of the romantic drama is underway. However, more recent news states that the show that revolves around the Bridgerton family’s search for love and happiness, will return for Season 3 and 4 too. The announcement was made on the show’s official Instagram account.
Previously, OTT platform Netflix had stated that Bridgerton was the most widely viewed series in its history, with 82 million households watching the show in the first month of its release. Bela Bajaria, the vice president of global TV at Netflix said, "Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show."
The show is produced by Shonda Rhimes of Shondaland and stars Phoebe Dynevor, Nicola Coughlan and Regé-Jean Page in lead roles. However, it was announced recently that Page will not be seen in the next season of the show.
In a statement, the fictional character of Lady Whistledown who is a mysterious writer in London, in the show, said, “Esteemed members of the Ton. It seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. This author shall have to add more ink."
Althoguh we will miss Simon (played by Regé-Jean Page), we can’t wait to see what the next few seasons has in store for us.
