Its Christmas time! From the aroma of the popular rum cake to the gifts that bring smiles on our face it is definitely the most favourite time of the year. While most people celebrate this auspicious festive at home with friends and family, this year why not spend your Christmas at one of the best places around the world.
1. Finland (Rovaniemi)- The city in Finland, Rovaniemi is also the capital of Lapland is located in the Northern region of Finland. Rovaniemi is regarded as the official hometown of Santa Claus. There are various fun activities to do in this beautiful city for both children and adults. Some popular ones are you must take the reindeer ride around the lovely city, visit the arctic zoo, take a husky tour, go on a snowmobile safari, and the popular northern lights tour is a must see.
2. Iceland (Reykjavik)- The largest and the capital city of Iceland, Reykjavik is one of the best places to visit during Christmas. The country’s winter landscapes and the marvellous northern lights make for a perfect destination. There nothing better than enjoying the carols while taking a stroll through the Christmas market. This famous market is located in Hafnarfjörður, which is about a 20 minute drive from the main city. Do not forget to carry a bathing suit, as Iceland is known for its readily available geothermal water for hot baths. Last but not least do see the northern lights.
3. Germany (Nuremberg)- Nuremberg is the second largest city of German federal state of Bavaria. This city is known for its Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt (a Christmas market in Nuremberg). Every year, the market opens various stalls for visitors from all over the world. Another popular attraction during Christmas is the Nuremberg Children’s Christmas is a kid’s fairytale dreamland with exciting rides such as the father Christmas sleighs, mini Ferris wheel, a small merry-go-round and a steam railway.
4. Austria (Salzburg)- Salzburg is an Austrian city located on the border of Germany, with a spectacular view of the Eastern Alps. This place is well-known for Salzburg Christmas museum on Mozart square. This museum is open throughout the year, but during Christmas it offers special attractions.
