Bentley Goes Topless

If you have the taste for luxury and speed—the new Bentley Continental Supersports is for you. Its turbocharged 6.0-litre 12-cylinder makes 700 hp and drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic. An air suspension provides a plush ride while still maintaining enough firmness to carve corners with ease. Carbon-ceramic brakes provide remarkable stopping power, which you’ll need, as coupe models boast a top speed of 209 mph and drop tops max out at 205 mph. Read on to learn all about the convertible beast.

The Continental Supersports is instantly recognisable from its striking looks, with unique design features that make it stand out from its siblings. With an unlimited choice of colours and unique colour splits, you can personalise the Supersports to reflect your own unique style, too.
Body styling features a bold new front and rear bumper design with carbon-fibre accents, while the distinctive carbon-fibre bonnet vents and side skirts underscore the supercar capabilities even further. Full exterior Blackware on the radiator surround, light units, window surrounds, rear bumper, and door handle inserts give the car a strikingly assertive look, as do the gloss black exhaust tailpipe and wing vents. And thought-provoking image is completed by the dark tinted front and rear lights, 21” Black and Bright Lightweight Forged Sports wheels and gloss black front radiator matrix grille – the first available on this generation of W12-powered Continentals.

Slide behind the wheel and you will discover an interior that continues the powerful sporting theme from outside, creating a look that is particularly powerful when the top is lowered. It features unique large chequered carbon-fibre fascia plates with Supersports branding on the passenger side fascia plate. This is also repeated on the treadplates.
Supersports emblems are stitched onto the headrests, while Supersports diamond quilting to the seat centres and side panels enhances the car’s distinctive look. A unique Supersports steering wheel and gear lever provide the finishing touches.

The convertible includes a wealth of technology designed to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Its infotainment system is built around an 8” high-resolution screen embedded in the handcrafted fascia, incorporating AM/FM radio and an optional Sirius satellite radio, alongside navigation, suspension adjustment, and controls for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. When parking, the screen displays a graphic representation of the distance to any obstacle, in combination with audible warnings.

High capacity turbochargers and a charge-air cooling system work in tandem to boost the car’s power output. To harness this additional thrust, the cranktrain includes special bearings. Together, these innovations increase the power by 79 bhp (80 PS) and 217 Nm (160 lb-ft.) over the original Continental Supersports Convertible. In simple terms, this translates into a breathtaking top speed that is 5 mph faster, shaving 0.2 seconds off the car’s 0 to 60 mph time.

The car features a torque converter that locks up supremely quickly, allowing the car to make the most of its phenomenal 1,017 Nm (750 lb–ft.) of torque. In practical terms, it means you can accelerate from a standstill more rapidly than ever. The brake discs provide excellent performance with minimal fade under extreme conditions. The brakes sit behind lightweight 21” forged alloy wheels, offering a combined 25kg weight saving in unsprung mass.     – Source: Bentley Motors
