An actor who has acted in over 50 films and in multiple languages, Laxmi Raai is passionate about her work and travel. “Travelling makes me more emotionally stable,” she explains. “It makes me independent and I feel more empowered and empathetic!” The gorgeous young lady has visited a lot of places within India and abroad. “In India, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Keralaare some of my favourite places to visit. Internationally, my favourite places are Santorini, the Seychelles, and the Maldives,” she exclaims. Laxmi recently told us all about her wonderful, week-long trip with her family where she had an absolutely amazing time!
“My family and I just wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, unwind, and spend some quality time with each other,” she tells us. “We decided that there’s no better place to reflect on life and refresh our minds than the beautiful and scenic Maldives. So that’s where our trip took us.” The Maldives has some of the most amazing white sand beaches in the world, and an underwater world that Laxmi and her family absolutely couldn’t miss. The country is an archipelago of nearly 1,200 islands, all of which have consistently beautiful beaches. “The stunning white sands on the beaches of every island we visited and the sparkling cyan water is unparalleled.” Laxmi tells us. “I was amazed by how clean and gorgeous every single beach was!”
Every resort in the Maldives has its own private island. Considering there are over a hundred to choose from, the family was spoilt for choice on what they wanted to experience. While the island Maafushi is known for snorkelling, scuba-diving, and whale and shark watching, the best place to experience surfing is Male Atoll. Meeru Island is a tiny, cosy island that houses a luxurious all-inclusive resort where you can relax and soak in the true beauty of the Maldives, and Hulhumale is the well-known man-made residential island that should certainly be on your list as well.
“I knew that we absolutely had to experience the magnificent water and underwater world of the Maldives that is so celebrated,” Laxmi says. “So we went all out! First we went deep sea diving, which was a wonderful experience where we had the most breath-taking views of fish and underwater creatures as they slowly and leisurely went about their daily lives. The vibrant colours and sheer number of species was mind-blowing!” Laxmi reminisces. “We also indulged in several water sports such as surfing and kayaking!”
“We ended our trip relaxing on the exquisite beaches of the Maldives as we soaked in the remainder of our little vacation,” Laxmi concludes. “It was an amazing week and I am definitely going back!” - as told to Tanya
