Anamika Khanna: 'Timeless The World' has come out of pandemic emotions

FDCI x LFW joint fashion week kick started on March 16, 2021 as fashion designer Anamika Khanna opened the show with her latest collection 'Timeless The World'.

In conversation with IANS life, the designer said that the collection is based on her emotions through the pandemic. "This collection is more about emotions than it is about the clothes. Going through the pandemic, each one of us have faced a lot of turmoil, a lot of emotional turbulence and a lot of us have given it a bit of thought as to what, why and how we do things. This collection has actually come out of those emotions that I have gone through," she added.

The designer has launched the new collection at the show and has collaborated with artists Deepak Kumar Saw, Smriti Lekha Gogoi and Amlan Dutta who added floral and abstract touches to the collection.

Sharing the video of the show on Instagram, the designer wrote, “As we constantly move forward, it is inevitable to look back and be inspired by timeless designs. That is the idea behind the collection Anamika Khanna made for the first-ever phygital edition of FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week. The collection showcases a wide variety of styles for men and women, from asymmetric kurtas to open-cut sherwanis and structured shirts. It’s homage to the ever-changing nature of the world, where the only thing left behind will be our legacy. The collection weaves a fictional narrative where a 24-year-old finds a treasure trove of textiles in a trunk in an attic and dreams up a collection that is modern, yet recognizes the timelessness of the Indian heritage.”
