Alone, a topical play based on life in the lockdown which premiered in Bangalore and Hyderabad to full houses in March this year will be streamed online on June 3. Written by Noor Baig, the streaming of the play will commemoratethe 37th death anniversary of Hyderabad’s theatre legend late Qadir Ali Baig.
They play is adapted from Noor’s own story in her published book A-Quaint-Essences, and is produced by Begum Razia Baig and directed by Padma Shri Mohammad Ali Baig. It features onstage Noor Baig, Vijay Prasad and Mohammad Ali Baig.Set in the lockdown, yesteryear star Asha looks back at her unusual life journey.
“Every year, we bring in a production to mark the death anniversary of Qadir Ali Baigsaheb. This year, due to the global pandemic and lockdown, we are streaming online our recently-premiered play Alone, which incidentally is based on an actress reminiscing about her life, her glories and losses in the alone time that the lockdown provided her. The play connected on the dot with the audiences in Bangalore and Hyderabad and there was a demand for more shows and the lockdown was announced. Hence, we decided to stream a recording of the performance held at Radisson Blu Plaza,” says director Mohammad Ali Baig.
The play will be streamed online on Book My Show on Thursday, June 3 at 7.30 pm with a repeat streaming on Sunday, June 6.
