Gangubai Kathiawadi actress Alia Bhatt has tested positive for covid-19. The actress took to Instagram to announce the same. In her statement, Alia said that she has immediately isolated herself and she will be under home quarantine for as long as the doctor suggests.
Alia, who is allegedly dating her Brahmastra co-star Ranbir Singh, had quarantined herself a week ago too, owing to the same scare as Ranbir and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who she was shooting with, had tested positive. However, it was a false alarm as the actress tested negative soon after. Ranbir and Sanjay completed their quarantine and have tested negative now. In fact, Alia was photographed coming out of a dubbing studio with Ranbir Kapoor hours before she tested positive.
The ongoing second wave of the dreadly virus is hitting us hard and many celebrities who have returned to work post the pandemic break have tested positive in the recent past, including Sachin Tendulkar, R. Madhavan, Bappi Lahri, Aamir Khan, Milind Soman and many others. In such times, they all urge their fans and well-wishers to stay safe and be healthy. A night curfew has also been imposed in Maharashtra to keep everyone indoors and safe.
The shooting for Alia’s film Gangubai Kathiawadi will now be stalled until she returns to work. Her other films in line include S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR in which she will be seen with Ram Charan, Jr NTR, and Ajay Devgn. This will mark Alia’s debut into South Indian cinema. Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor is set to release in July and Karan Johar’s Takht and Jasmeet K. Reen’s Darlings is on the cards. - Niharika Keerthi
