Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one personality we really miss on the big screen. Just when we were wishing to see more of her, there were reports that she is teaming up with ace director, Mani Ratnam for a multi-lingual film based on the tamil classic, ‘Ponniyin Selvan.’ The novel was a historic one written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. In five volumes, it tells the story of the greatest ruler of the Chola Empire, Rajaraja Chola.
The film will be a period drama with Aishwarya playing the antagonist. Yes, you heard it right! She will play the role of a power-hungry woman who manipulates her husband so she can see the downfall of the Chola Empire.
This is the third time the actress plays a negative role after ‘Khakee’ in 2005 and ‘Dhoom 2’ in 2006. But, the skilled actress that she is, she pulls off any role with ease and we cannot wait to see her in a new avatar. Our excitement has tripled as Aishwarya Rai and Mani Ratnam are a winning combination with their past hits being ‘Iruvar’, ‘Guru’ and Raavan.
