Top three ways to combat vitamin D deficiency 

We all are aware of the fact that good diet and exercise are optimal for our wellbeing, but only a handful of people known the fact that in order to survive our body needs the essential nutrients and minerals. One of the crucial vitamins, that are essential for your body is vitamin D. This wonder vitamin absorbs the calcium and promotes bone growth. It also helps regulate the immune system and the neuromuscular system. There are also numerous studies suggesting that this vitamin prevents breast, colon and prostate cancer along with heart diseases. Steps to combat vitamin D deficiency: 

1.    Expose yourself to sun light. Spending about 15 to 20 minutes out in the sun will just be enough for your body to produce vitamin D. The ideal time for stepping outside for sunlight is between 11am to 3pm. While stepping outside for sunlight, you must keep in mind that overexposure will lead to serious health issues such as skin cancer; hence to avoid this limit the time spent under the sun. 

2.    Consume foods rich in vitamin D. Food is one of the essential factors for good health. Apart from getting exposed to sunlight, another effective way to overcome this deficiency is to incorporate foods that are high in vitamin D into your diet. Some of these foods are egg yolks, yogurt, salmon, cod liver oil, orange juice, soy milk, and cereal. 

3.    Take vitamin D supplements. A faster and a safe way to increase vitamin D in your bloodstream is by taking supplements. Before taking vitamin D pills, you must consult your doctor because the dosage of vitamin D supplements depends on various factors such as age, lifestyle or gender. Another point to keep in mind while taking supplements is not to overboard as this might result in serious issues.
