On the special occasion of renowned Indian scientist, Dr. Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai's 100th birth anniversary, Google dedicated a special doodle.
Dr. Vikram Sarabhai is known as the father of India's space programme. Vikram was the vision behind the establishment of the Indian National Committee for Space Research in the year 1962. He was also responsible for setting up numerous institutions like the Indian Institute of Management, and Community Science Centre. Vikram played a key role in launching the satellite Instructional Television Experiment in the year 1975 with the help of NASA. This legendary scientist was honoured with a crater on the moon, as it was named after him. Vikram was bestowed with the highest and most prestigious awards, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan.
