The wide variety of products coupled with attractive packaging and huge discounts at supermarkets make consumers victim to unnecessary spending. If you’re living on a budget, grocery is one of the main areas where you will need to be careful and limit your spending. Here are 10 ways to save on grocery shopping:
MAKE A PRECISE SHOPPING LIST:
Plan your menu for the week and make a list of all the ingredients you need. Stick to this list no matter what, so you’ll end up buying only what is necessary.
BUY IN BULK:
It’s cheaper to buy products in bulk rather than in small quantities. Save more by buying staples like Rice, Wheat flour, Maida, Sugar etc. in larger quantities.
BUY FEWER PRE-PACKAGED FOOD:
Making a meal from scratch is always cheaper than buying pre-packaged food. The more ready the food is, the more expensive and unhealthy it is.
DON’T SHOP WHEN YOU’RE HUNGRY:
It is a bad idea to shop when you’re hungry because you will be tempted to buy a lot of food you don’t need and a lot of junk food too!
SHOP WITH CASH / DEBIT CARD:
Don’t shop with your credit card because it will allow you to shop freely and not on a budget. If you shop with your cash/ debit card, you can spend with only what you have. Shopping with Rs.500 in your pocket is better than shopping with a credit limit of Rs.10, 000
CARRY YOUR OWN SHOPPING BAGS:
Most supermarkets these days charge you for plastic bags. By carrying your own shopping bags, you’re not only saving on money but you’re also being environment friendly.
