5 Must-Have Camping Essentials

Are you planning an outdoor trip? What could be a better option than camping?

It’s not just one of the best but even affordable ways to vacation and get closer to nature. According to some studies camping is shown to have numerous benefits for both physical and mental health. Spending time with nature is an effective way to reduce stress and contributes to emotional wellbeing.

Whether it's a one night camp with friends, or a family camping trip; it’s no doubt you are going to have a great time but if you go unprepared then it can get quite stressful. One of the essential steps to keep in mind while camping is to make sure you have all the things you need.

Whether you're a first-time camper or someone who camps often, do not forget to carry some of these must-have essentials for an outdoor adventure.

1.Tent - One of the most important items on your camping checklist is a tent. While camping in the wilderness, a tent becomes your home and investing in a good one is probably the best thing you can do. When buying a tent, one of the key things to keep in mind is to buy the one with more in-person capacity. Apart from tent, other essential gears to have are sleeping bags, camp stove, folding chair and tables. Before heading out on your trip, make sure to test your gear.

2.First aid kit - On a camping trip, you should keep in mind that cuts, burns, or scratches are bound to happen. Keeping a first aid kit handy is very important.

3.Food - Besides the camping gear and first aid, making a list of food items is also vital. There is a good chance that you might have to prepare your own food while camping, hence for this reason you should carry all the items that you will need for making full fledged meals. Taking non perishable food items like coffee or tea, hot chocolate, peanut butter, bread, energy bars, biscuits, canned soups and meat, and baked beans is a good idea. Other things to carry are utensils, water filtration, small cutting board, and some reusable water bottles.

4.Maps and compass- You might be wondering when you have a GPS in your phone and car, why would you need maps and compass. Unfortunately you will not get proper signals in the forest or some remote camping sites, hence its good to carry maps and compass.

5.Flashlights and lanterns - One of the must-have things in your camping box is flashlights and lanterns. You need to use lanterns during your stay in a tent especially when it gets dark.

Other essentials include rain gear, thick jacket,  toilet paper, pocket knife, a pack of cards, board games, sun hat, trash bags, ropes, and portable spice rack.
