Not much can beat a classic PB&J. The simple sweet and savory treat is as nostalgic as it is delicious, but did you know it can also be healthy? We’re talking specifically about the peanut butter part of it. We’ve rounded up some of the reasons peanut butter should be a constant part of your diet, in moderation of course. Read on!
1. Helps with weight loss–
There have been many studies that suggest that the consumption of peanuts and other nuts has helped in maintaining weight and, in some cases, has sped up the process of weight loss. Peanuts provide satiety, in simple words – it makes you feel full fast. This is due to the high amount of protein, fat and fiber present in them. Maybe that’s the reason peanuts have been known to reduce the risk of obesity.
2. Maintains blood sugar levels–
Considering that peanut butter is a low-carbohydrate food, which means that it doesn’t have a significant effect on blood glucose levels. That makes it a good idea for diabetics to use it when they’re looking to control their sugar levels.
3. Reduces risk of breast disease–
It has been proven that consumption of peanut butter from a young age has gone on to reduce the risk of a benign breast disease (BBD), which could possibly lead to breast cancer. Some other forms of nuts as well as some vegetable fats also protect the body from BBD.
