The festive season has begun and everyone across the country is preparing for the big day—Diwali, falling on October 18— with much gusto. From buying new clothes and jewellery to getting the house cleaned, spending time with family to exchanging gifts and boxes of sweets, Diwali is a time to let the light shine brightest. For Hindus it marks the start of a new year, the end of darkness and beginning of a bright life.
In keeping with the festivity, we present to you our annual Diwali issue, which has people from various cities giving us a sneak-peek into their Diwali celebrations. Turn to Feature for more.
Dazzling our cover is fashionista par excellence Sonam Kapoor, who is looking stunning in jewellery designed by Kalyan Jewellers. The second generation actress is known for her stunning fashion sense and more recently for her acting in films like Neerja. Cover Story is a round up on the talented actress.
If you’re planning a short (or long) getaway during the festive period, take a look at our Grand Getaways section that talks about cities like Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur, where the festival of light is celebrated with much pomp and show.
While Diwali is a time to celebrate and treat oneself to the finer things in life, it is also a time when we may overindulge, specifically in the food we eat and drinks we consume. This Diwali, stay away from the extra sweets and junk food and curb the extra calories. Check out Mind & Body for ways to do so.
In People we have two individuals from diverse fields—fashion and music—who talk to us about their work and life as a whole. Sahil Malik is the Chief Executive Officer of leather accessories brand, Da Milano while Seema Mahadevia is a classical singer from Mumbai.
In the Spotlight are two renowned designers of the country—Varun Bahl and Shyamal Shodhan (of Shyamal & Bhumika) who take us through their journey into fashion.
Here’s wishing everyone a very Happy Diwali. May this Diwali burn all your bad times and enter you into the good times!
