YouTuber Shelby Mitchusson uploaded a video of herself signing all the lyrics to Eminem's empowering anthem "Lose Yourself." The video is actually back from 2014, but has recently gone viral.
Mitchusson not only signs the song, but really conveys the beat and mood throughout her entire performance. A commenter on Reddit admitted, "Ok, I expected it to be silly, but it's actually really, really well done. I could see Eminem signing while singing along, and the gestures just seem to 'work' in the context of the song. Very cool."
“I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shared my video and thank you for taking the time to watch it. I have to say, I did not upload it for entertainment purposes,” Mitchusson wrote on her Facebook page. “I uploaded it purely for interpreting.”
Mitchusson then went on to explain why she created the video in the first place. “Actually it was my interpreter application submission video to work with an amazing interpreting team at Austin City Limits 2014,” she wrote. “I got the gig and still my heart flutters with how well our team worked together equally and the fact that finally these companies are opening their eyes to the true hidden gem talent of Deaf performers & Deaf people signing music-- which we NEED to see more of!”
The interpreter finished her post with a heartfelt thank you to her fans. “Again, thank you all it truly means a lot to me [because] this song hits home to my heart in so many ways and I hope that my passion and love are expressed through my work,” Mitchusson said. “I always work from my heart.”
