Vera Wang

Although of Chinese descent, Vera Ellen Wang was born and raised in the concrete jungle of New York City. She went on to attend the University of Paris and earned a degree in art history from the famed Sarah Lawrence College. Wang was hired by Vogue immediately after graduating, earning the title of the youngest editor at the magazine. She stayed put with the company for 17 long years after which she had a two-year stint at Ralph Lauren. Resigning at the age of 40, Wang went on to become an independent bridal wear designer.

Wang opened her own bridal boutique thereafter and established a name in the fashion industry. Since then she has designed wedding dresses under her signature collection for big names such as Chelsea Clinton, Ivanka Trump, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Avril Lavigne, Khloé Kardashian, and many more. Her evening wear gowns too have been donned by the likes of Michelle Obama and others. She has also delved into the world of figure skating, designing costumes for Nancy Kerrigan, Michelle Kwan, Evan Lysacek, and Nathan Chen.

A common name on the biggest red carpets of the world, Vera Wang has created an empire with her bridal wear, evening wear, lingerie, and even fragrance and jewellery products. Wang’s traditionally elegant yet modern designs have helped her rise as one of the most prominent designers in the US. Her sophisticated and neat looks have earned her respect as one of the most desirable designers in the world. Above all, her jewel-tone fabrics, eye-catching embellishments, and elegant cuts have made her the epitome of bridal couture.
