The first trailer for transgender drama ‘The Danish Girl’ has debuted online, offering a longer look at the highly anticipated film.
The trailer for the drama, directed by The King’s Speech’s Tom Hooper, has just arrived and it gives us a closer look at the fact-based tale. Redmayne stars as Einar Wegener, one of the first recipients of sexual reassignment surgery, who became Lili Elbe.
The film is based on David Ebershoff’s historical novel, tells the story of the real-life Elbe, who was assigned male at birth in 1882 and transitioned to female in the 1920s with the support of her wife, Gerda (Alicia Vikander), becoming one of the first people to undergo gender confirmation surgery.

Co-starring Alicia Vikander, Ben Whishaw, Amber Heard, and Matthias Schoenaerts, “The Danish Girl” will do the rounds at the fall film festival circuit, making its world premiere in Venice and its North American premiere in Toronto. Universal/Focus will release the picture on November 27th.
