A tribute to the dying legacy of Bombay Irani cafes, SBOW is a unique concept – quirky, colourful and bustling with activity. Promoted by the Olive Group, the restaurant serves classic Parsi cuisine in addition to some of Mumbai’s street food.
The interiors have an old colonial charm – humorous portraits of the Parsis of yore, a family tree painted on one wall, another with some comical ‘rules of the establishment’. The classic Irani chai glasses, checked tablecloths, antique lamps, cuckoo clocks, brass kettles, and glass jars filled with baked goods and sweets are all present.
The menu boasts classic Parsi dishes like mutton dhansak, patra ni macchi, berry pulao, salli mutton, chicken baida roti, and chicken farcha. Classic street foods include Breach Candy Awesome Okra and Mamaji’s Grilled Sandwich. The Irani bakery serves fresh ginger biscuits, berry and almond nankhatai, Shrewsbury biscuits, mawa cake and lagan nu custard. A selection of drinks including raspberry soda, Irani falooda and Mrs. Sodabottleopenerwala’s Special Cold Coffee will leave you wanting more.
