Russell Brand has said he is "lit up by the idea" of becoming a father.

The 41-year-old comedian who covers the latest issue of Britain's ‘ES magazine’ opens up about his life outside of the spotlight, living in the country with his 27-year-old girlfriend Laura Gallacher as they prepare for their first child.

"I feel lit up by the idea I'm very excited about becoming a dad and I'm preparing myself," he told the publication. "I am just getting ready to be with a new little person and see what it is they want."
Speaking on the Jonathan Ross show, Russell explained: “We don’t know the gender I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, let the child grow up and be the whatever the hell it is, never tell it there is such a concept.”

The star also shared how he is preparing for impending fatherhood, adding: “I read a different book every week and I read one on preparation for fatherhood to mentally prepare me for it.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that 41-year-old comedian, Russell Brand, was set to become a father for the first time, with he and his model girlfriend, Laura Gallacher, expecting a baby early next year.

Now Russell has opened up about his plans once the baby is here, admitting that he is going to raise his child as gender neutral.

"I don’t know that it has prepared me for it.

"I’ve painted the room, I’ve done the things that you’re supposed to do, I’ve accepted the idea that that person will be more important than me, ‘Jesus Three’ I’m thinking of calling him or her.”
