Republic day was celebrated with a bang at the International School of Hyderabad. As with every year, this year too, the school celebrated Republic Day by having a whole school assembly. The atmosphere was thrilling and colourful as parents and students gathered at The Green to acknowledge the 68th year of India as a Republic nation. The program was competently emceed by two students—Tania Shiza of grade 7 and Micaela Kromhout of grade 10. Rahim Latif and Micaela informed the audience of the evolution of the fl ag through the decades. A patriotic and vibrant touch was added with the rendition of Rang de Basanti by students. Dr Oli Tooher-Hancock, Principal, ISH, spoke about the annual parade in Delhi and the string of international leaders present as guests every year. Aptly enough, the last song was 'Abide with Me', which is sung at the closing ceremony of every Republic Day parade, and at ISH, it is sung by the entire faculty. The school also paid homage to the late Rathi Manohar; Angela Peji read out a beautiful poem on him. All in all, a wonderful morning evoking nostalgic memories of India’s freedom struggle.
