Punjabi by Nature

Arjun Puri, Managing Director of Punjabi by Nature, opened his fifth outlet nationwide on Road No.12 in Banjara Hills last year. Today, the restaurant has become synonymous with massive portions of authentic Punjabi cuisine, guaranteed to please the taste buds of any North Indian food lover.

Everything at Punjabi by Nature is plentiful, and served up at a reasonable price. Begin the evening at the Karma Lounge, where you can buy one drink and get another free during ‘Happy Hour’, which runs from 4-8 pm. For just Rs. 99, customers can choose from five brands of Indian liquor or cocktails.  We highly recommend the ‘Vodka Golguppa Shots’, and for non-alcoholic drinkers, the Lassi Malai Marke is cool and refreshing.

Starters include Tandoori Broccoli, Dahi ke Kebab or Tandoori Paneer Tikka, if you are vegetarian. Non-vegetarian signature starters are Raan-e-Punjab (whole leg of lamb), Jhaangi Chaamp, Kastoori Kebab and Amritsari Fish Tikka. For the main course, Dal Makhani, Kandhari Murgh and Murgh Makhani are popular favourites. And remember to finish the rich meal with flambéed Gulab Jamuns, Jalebi with Rabri or Pista Kulfi for dessert.

The restaurant has recently introduced smaller portions of the dishes at half the price. They even run a home delivery service to anywhere in Hyderabad (minimum order Rs 500). Another innovation is their valet pick-up and drop service. If you live within a ten kilometre radius of the restaurant, the management will provide complimentary transportation to and from the restaurant. An absolute boon if you are planning on drinking alcohol and do not wish to drink and drive.

Saurabh Mishra, Restaurant Manager tells us, “The crème-de-la-creme of the city comes here to dine. Our restaurant is popular with families, expats, youngsters, corporate clients and film stars. It is particularly popular with those looking for a hearty Punjabi meal in a contemporary, sophisticated ambience. Our portions are so big that some customers have remarked that the naans are like blankets and the Gulab Jamuns are like tennis balls!”

For an authentic Punjabi meal with generous portions, take your family and friends to Punjabi by Nature. The average cost of a meal for two with drinks, rounds up to about Rs. 600.     - Meera
