While Kim Kardashian may have posed nude to “Break the Internet”, Korean pop star Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has officially become the first video to break YouTube. The 2012 viral sensation that owned the internet was the first video on YouTube to surpass 1 billion views, and mere months after became the first video to crack the 2 billion view barrier. It has amassed well over 2 billion views with nearly 9 million "likes" and just over 1 million "dislikes."
After two years the video has now climbed to a number YouTube assumed it wouldn't ever encounter so and the site announced that it never anticipated a single video receiving so many views and had to install an update that would properly display the necessary number of commas in such a gigantic number.
An explanation came from YouTube in the form of a Google+ post on Monday:
As of now, YouTube has fixed the problem and the view counter can now go up to 9 quintillion views (9,223,372,036,854,775,808, to be exact).
