Novak Djokovic clinched his third Grand Slam title of 2015 and 10th career major with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 triumph over favourite Roger Federer in the US Open final on Sunday.
This is Djokovic's second U.S. Open title and 10th career Grand Slam singles title, moving him into a tie with Bill Tilden for seventh place on the career list. Djokovic becomes the first player since 2011 to win three out of four majors in a single year. The last player to do so was Djokovic himself who won in Australia, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
“It’s been an incredible season, next to 2011 probably the best of my life,” said Djokovic. “I’m enjoying this one better than any other in my life because I’m a husband and father and this makes it sweeter.”
Federer and Djokovic have played 42 times, and Djokovic’s victory on Sunday tied the series, 21-21.
